Daniel Aloysius Will, 68, of Allendale, IL passed away suddenly, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his residence.
He was born Friday, December 17, 1948 in Effingham, IL, the oldest of eight children of Edwin Hugo and Luella Gertrude (Probst) Will. On Wednesday, June 21, 1972 he married the love of his life, Janet Louise Rauch in Wendelin, IL.
Dan was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He and Janet started their life in Mt. Carmel where he worked as a mechanic for G & H Machine. He retired from Mt. Carmel Stabilization in 2016 after 42 years. He honorably served his country in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion.
Dan’s favorite pastime was restoring old tractors. He was a member of Gibson County Antique Club. He worked on all kinds of tractors. He had been accused of trying to save them all; his favorites were the International tractors. He enjoyed going to auctions and car and tractor shows.
His grandchildren were very special to him, he adored discovering each of their special talents. He loved it when they said “Grampa, let’s go for a tractor ride”.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-four years, Janet; children Danielle (Adam) Rahman of Edwardsville, IL, and Nicholas (Jenna) of Newburgh, IN; brothers, Maurice (Lynn) Will of Newton, IL, Allen (Joanne) Will of Toledo, IL, Paul (Terry) Will, Roy (Yvonne) Will, Carl (Becky) Will, all of Newton; sisters, Janice (Chris) Wagy of Robinson, IL, Jeanne (Jon) Bourquin of Apple River, IL; and five grandchildren, Ava and Noah Rahman and Rilee, Addison and Sophia Will.
Preceding him in death were his parents and mother-in-law.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday March 31, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life for Dan will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery in Allendale, IL.
