The Illinois State Police District 12 recently released the results from Nighttime Enforcement (NITE) patrols. The patrols were held in Jasper and Cumberland Counties during the month of March. District 12 police officers issued 40 written warnings and made 22 arrests/citations during the patrols. The following is the total law enforcement activity that was taken per violation during the NITE patrols.

- Other Alcohol/Drug Citations- 1
- Occupant Restraint Offenses- 3
- Registration Offenses- 5
- Driver’s License Offenses- 3
- Insurance Violations- 1
The Nighttime Enforcement patrols were held to keep Cumberland and Jasper Counties roads safe by removing driver’s that were under the influence of drugs/alcohol from the roads. Driving while impaired from alcohol/drugs is a major factor in more than 30% of the fatal accidents in Illinois. Across the United States, nearly 10,000 people lose their lives each year from impaired driving. The Illinois State Police District 12 is reminding drivers to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.
