One person was airlifted from the scene of an accident that occurred on the Teutopolis Frontage Road shortly before 12:30pm on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Teutopolis Fire Department, first responders were called to the scene of an accident that occurred at the intersection of 1600th Avenue (Teutopolis Frontage Road) and 1680th Street in Effingham. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Chevrolet Impala that was resting on its top in the ditch on the south-side of the intersection. A Ford SUV had also come to a rest upright in the roadway. The first responders then used the “Jaws of Life” to rescue the victims in the Chevrolet Impala. After rescuing the victim from the car, the individual was flown from the scene by Arch Air Medical. Emergency agencies that assisted in the accident was the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, the Effingham City Police, Effingham City-County Ambulance, Arch Air Medical, the Illinois State Police, and the Teutopolis Fire Department.
The accident is being investigated by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.
