The Mattoon Area Community Foundation has awarded Angela Long a scholarship from the Coles County Young Professionals Endowment. The scholarship will cover a third of the cost of attending a course at Lake Land that focuses on leadership. Long will enroll in the class as part of the Mattoon Emerging Leaders Training Program which was established in 2016 “to identify, motivate and help professionally develop emerging leaders from a cross-section of the community and enhance their potential for community leadership by exposing them to the opportunity and challenges of our community.” Participants are selected by chamber member businesses based on their development potential. The class focuses on leadership and helping individuals to become well-rounded business professionals. Long is the office manager at Mark’s My Store in Mattoon.
The Coles County Young Professionals Endowment is part of the Coles County Young Professionals Giving Circle, a fund of the Mattoon Area Community Foundation. The endowment will continuously support professional and community improvement. For more information contact Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce at 217-235-5661.
