Karen Jeanette Wright, age 64, of Casey, IL formerly of the Toledo, Greenup and Newton, IL area passed away at 4:36 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at her home. She was born January 12, 1953 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Francis Fabian Aita and Rosemary Virginia (Leahy) Aita. On September 16, 1988 she married Larry O. Wright of Casey, IL. He passed away on February 10, 2002.
Survivors include her sons, Melvin (Amy) Gray of Hazel Dell, IL and Stephen (Stephanie) Gray of Casey, IL; stepsons, Larry (Dawn) Wright of Mishawaka, IN and Michael (Laura) Wright of Casey, IL; stepdaughter, Deborah Wright of Mishawaka, IN; father of her children, Bob (Kathy) Gray of Newton, IL; brother, Paul (Gail) Aita of Kansas City, KS; sister, Mary Aita Gray of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, James Aita.
Karen attended the Catholic Church. She had previously worked as a janitor for John’s Floor Service, Casey Township Library and Fedders. Karen enjoyed puzzles, reading, genealogy and playing Scrabble. She especially enjoyed her time with her family and her rescue bloodhound “Autumn”.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Father Augustine Koomson officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainfield Cemetery, Rose Hill, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon prior to the service on Saturday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
