The Tax and Finance Committee voted on Thursday to appropriate $46,000 for the purchase of a new police cruiser to replace one totaled in an accident in December. Deputy Tim Forehand was heading northbound on Route 45, near Heartville, when a southbound vehicle with its headlights off turned in front of him causing a collision. Chief Deputy Paul Kuhns informed the committee that Sheriff’s Department will recuperate around $8,500 from insurance on the totaled vehicle.
Committee member John Perry recommended to pull funds to replace the totaled vehicle, to the tune $46,000, from the county’s contingency fund. The full board will vote on the measure at their meeting on Tuesday.
The committee also voted to forward an ordinance regarding cable franchise fees to full board. The County State’s Attorney is set to provide more information on the ordinance at the full County Board Meeting Tuesday.
