Teutopolis and Rockridge officials have confirmed that tonight’s game at Lincoln College has been canceled due to the Teutopolis Boy’s Basketball Team being involved in an accident south of Sullivan on Route 32 at 800N.
Both the basketball team and cheerleaders were on the bus at the time. There were some non-life threatening injuries and those students are being treated at Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthcare Center in Mattoon. All other students have been released to their parents. Superintendent Bill Fritcher is currently at the hospital with the remaining students. “I am at Sarah Bush Hospital with other school personnel. All students have parents here and are in good hands,” Fritcher posted on social media.
Kaleb Randol, of the Sullivan Fire Protection District, confirmed that there were two vehicles involved, the Teutopolis school bus and a minivan. The wreck is currently being investigated by the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office. As of 5:30 there were still fire crews on-scene.
We’ll be monitoring the story as it develops.
