Sheredith “S. L.” Durbin, age 70, of Ramsey, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 21 in an auto accident in Fayette County.
Sheredith “S. L.” Durbin was born Wednesday, September 25, 1946 in Hillsboro, Illinois to Elza Ervin and Lylian Treva (Wear) Durbin. He was raised on the family farm east of Ramsey. He attended Ramsey Elementary School and was a graduate of Ramsey High School. He married Sandra Kay Teter in their home in Fayette County on December 12, 1992. S. L. was a machinist at John Crane Packing Vandalia and maintained the family farm in Fayette County. He was the current Vice-President of the Flying Illini Roller Club, a member of National Birmingham Roller Club, National Muzzle Loaders Association and the NRA.
S.L. Durbin is survived by his wife Sandra K Durbin of Ramsey; son Scott R (Shawn) Collins of Herrick; daughter Katie M Rhodes of Ramsey; mother-in-law Glenna Teter of Vandalia; son-in-law Lyle Rhodes of Ramsey; grandsons Ryan and Preston Collins; granddaughters Kelsey and Brittney Rhodes, Samantha Collins; great-grandchildren Blake, Kyle, Clayton and Boone Collins, Brooklyn and Memphis Little, Bennett Rhodes; and nephew Shawn (Tracey) Durbin of St. George, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Joshua Durbin; and two brothers, Marshall and Lavel Durbin.
