Bond County Community High School Student Enlists in the Illinois National Guard

A Bond County Community High School student recently enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard.

Pvt. Cody Wheat, of Greenville, enlisted in the National Guard as a 91B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic on November 30th. Wheat is assigned to Company M, Recruit Sustainement Program in Shiloh. Following basic combat training in June 2017 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Wheat will be assigned to Company H, 634th Brigade Support Battalion in Mt. Vernon.

Following the completion of his training, Wheat will receive 100% free college tuition through the Illinois National Guard. He will also be eligible for the Select Reserve G.I. Bill, as well as federal tuition assistance.
