The Effingham City Council will vote on hiring the new Chief of Police Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Jeff Fuesting, of the St. Louis County Police Department, has been selected for the position, pending a city council vote. Fuesting is an Effingham native.
The council will also discuss a resolution that authorize the acceptance of a Certificate of Dedication of Right of Way as part of the Haney Street Railroad Project. This will accept the right of way from the adjacent property as part of project to install a gate and lights at the Oakridge crossing. Installing lights and gates at every crossing is part of an ongoing project to make Effingham a “quiet zone” for passing trains.
