An Effingham man has been charged in Fayette County for possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials as well as possession of methamphetamine. 40-year old Derek J. Mummel is charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials as information states he allegedly “knowingly possessed fuel, batteries, coolant and tubing with the intent that it be used for methamphetamine manufacturing,” which is a Class 2 felony. Mummel is also charged with possession of meth as he allegedly possessed less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond for Mummel has been set at $10,000 and a public defender has been appointed. Mummel will make his first appearance with counsel on January 6 at 11am.
