The votes are tallied and the winners are in for the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Holiday Lights and Festive Sights Competition. The third annual Christmas lights completion had over 600 people vote for the winners this year. Three finalists for each of the four categories were selected by judges and then finalists were voted on by the public. The winner in each category wins $250. In the “Business” category the prize money is donated to the winner’s charity of choice.
The winner in the “Classic Christmas” category is Darlene Logue at 805 E. Jefferson Avenue, in the “Clark Griswold” category winners are Richard and Pauline Worman at 910 N. Merchant, and in “Reason for the Season” the winners are Cleatus and Betty Koester at 700 N. Parkview. The winner of the “Business” Category was the Orchard Inn. They selected Catholic Charities as their non-profit and offered to match the gift, making it a $500 donation.
Winners will also have sign placed in their yard through January 3, 2017 and the public is encouraged to drive by and see their displays. Two voters will also be selected for $100 gift cards.
