Patricia “Pat” Rezabeck, 73, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Friday with a period of reflection at 6:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL 62401.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made in loving memory of Pat to Sacred Heart School or St. Anthony’s Women’s Wellness Center.
Patricia was born on September 1, 1943, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Niehaus) Ritchie. She married William J. Rezabeck on July 8, 1967, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2005.
Pat was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Effingham. Pat was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She was a business education teacher. In retirement, she volunteered in the office of Sacred Heart Church, served on the Parish Council, and cared for her pet schnauzers. Although Pat was an avid reader, her favorite hobby was playing bridge. She played party bridge with her friends for over 30 years and achieved Life Master status with the ACBL in 2013. Pat attended as many of her grandkids’ extra curricular activities that she could. During the holidays, she enjoyed spending time with her children as they helped assemble candy wreaths and bake poppy seed bread. She enjoyed decorating her home for every holiday. Pat never missed an opportunity to gather her family and enjoy a home-cooked meal.
Pat is survived by her children, Aimee (Doug) Repking of Effingham and Tom (Catherine) Rezabeck of Glen Carbon; grandchildren, Abby Repking and Allison Repking both of Effingham, and Lincoln Rezabeck and Loie Rezabeck both of Glen Carbon; brother, Michael Ritchie of Effingham; sister, Jodi (Michael) Burton of Waterloo; sister-in-law, Pat Rezabeck of California; nieces, Julie (Jeff) Roy and Stacey (Tom) Schilling both of Waterloo; nephew, Eric (Meghan) Burton of Waterloo; and 1 great niece and 4 great nephews all of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. William J. Rezabeck; sister, Mary Ritchie; uncle, Robert Niehaus; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Clara Rezabeck; and brother-in-law, Charles Rezabeck.
