(Chicago, IL) — Illinois’ temporary state budget expires in about a month, but top lawmakers still don’t seem ready to agree on a new spending plan. Legislative leaders met with Governor Rauner yesterday. House Speaker Mike Madigan said afterward they spent only 14-minutes talking about a new state budget. Governor Rauner says he wants term limits and a property-tax freeze from lawmakers before he’ll sign a new state budget.
