The Effingham City Council will meet on Tuesday, November 15th at 6:00pm.
During the meeting, the Council will hold an Omnibus Vote which will include the authorization of the purchase of a new fire engine/pumper for the Effingham Fire Department. The fire engine will replace Engine 576 and will be delivered in the Fiscal Year of 2017/2018. The Omnibus Vote will also include a Resolution that will authorize the monetary contribution of $25,000 to the Effingham City/County Committee on Aging. The City contributed the same amount last year and funds will be used for services offered at the Senior Center.
Additionally, the City Council will recognize the winner of the Employee of the Quarter award, Cindy Thies. Thies is a Police Department Telecommunicator and was nominated by Jodi Moomaw for her willingness to assume tasks that were above and beyond her current rank and grade. Thies will also now be a candidate for the Employee of the Year Award. The Council will, then, discuss upcoming events in Effingham; including the Hometown Christmas & Lighting of the City of Effingham Community Christmas Tree on November 26th, the Wonderland in Lights running from Thanksgiving through New Years, and the Holiday Lights and Festive Sights Competition.
The Effingham City Council meets in the Effingham City Council Chambers at 201 East Jefferson Avenue in Effingham.
