The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers of scams involving fake Hurricane Matthew relief funds. Unfortunately there are people out there willing to use people’s kindness to make a buck. Additionally, some charities might have good intentions but no means of following though on their promises. Effingham Radio News spoke to Better Business Bureau Regional Director Joey Keyes on what to look for when picking a charity to support.
Another thing to watch out for is what percentage of each donation actually goes towards aid. While all charities require some overhead to run, some take a little too much away from helping.
