(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois unemployment rate is holding steady. The state’s September jobless rate was five-point-five-percent, the same as August. Seventy-four-hundred jobs were created, but state unemployment spokesman Bob Gough says the recovery is sluggish, especially in manufacturing. He says the state lost 12-thousand manufacturing jobs in the past year, though there was some growth in Chicago. In September, there were job gains in professional and business services, construction, government, education and health services.
