The City Effingham made large donation of $50,000 to the Construction Trades Education Curriculum program (CTEC). The program is available to high school students in Effingham County who are interested in the construction field. Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker Presented a check to the current class earlier this week.
“The Construction Trades Class continues to gain structure, organization, and momentum. We are proud of this group and we brag about them all the time. This class is turning into a real success story. The Effingham City Council is glad we made the decision to invest in them and the future workforce of the Effingham region,” said Mayor Bloemker.
The goal of the class is to have students ready to join the construction field directly after high school. It includes classroom work as well as on-site training and speeches from local construction contractors. The number of students involved in the program doubled after its first year. CTEC is funded through local donations, like the one from the city.
