UPDATE: We have received word from Effingham County EMA that the training originally scheduled for Saturday in Edgewood has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Spots are still open at the the upcoming Red Cross Shelter Training set to take place on Saturday in Edgewood. With winter weather looming in the next few months, the Effingham County Emergency Management Agency is asking individuals who might be able to open emergency shelters to attend training on how to property operate one for community members and travelers. The Effingham County EMA is holding the training in partnership with the Edgewood Bi County Fire Protection District and the Edgewood Christian Church.
There are no prerequisites for the training and it is free to the public. The training will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Danks Christian Community Center, located at 511 Hickory Street in Edgewood.
