The following are local sports results for September 29th:
BASKETBALL
DIETERICH VS. NORTH CLAY
Dieterich lost to North Clay in 8th grade girls basketball 37-22. Dieterich was led by Locey who had 9 points. Dieterich 7th grade girls team defeated North Clay 36-13. Dieterich was led by Oschwald who had 10 points.
ST. ANTHONY VS. TEUTOPOLIS
St. Anthony 8th grade girls basketball was able to get the win aginst Teutopolis 24-19. St. Anthony was led by McDevitt who had 8 points. Michels had 16 points for Teutopolis in the loss. In 7th grade girls basketball it was Teutopolis beating St. Anthony 15-11. Teutopolis was led by Probst, Hardiek, and hoene who each had 4 points. St. Anthony was led by Kabbes with 4 points.
VOLLEYBALL
EFFINGHAM VS. SALEM
Effingham Varsity Volleyball was able to defeat Salem in two games. Effingham won game one by a score of 27-25. Effingham won game two by a score of 25-22. Effingham is now 3-14 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. Effingham JV Volleyball also defeated Salem in two games. Effingham won game one 26-24. Effingham won game two by a score of 25-17. The JV team is now 6-5 on the season. Both Varsity and JV next play Charelston on Tuesday.
WINDSOR STEW STRAS VS. NORTH CLAY
Windsor Stew-Stras was able to defeat North Clay in two games. WSS won game one by a score of 25-14. WSS won game two by a score of 25-10. The win improves WSS to 13-3 on the season and 7-0 in conference play. WSS JV was not able to defeat North Clay who took the match in two games. North Clay won game one 25-23. North Clay then won game two by a score of 25-18. The loss drops WSS to 8-6 on the season. WSS Varsity and JV teams will be in action on Tuesday against St. Anthony for Pink Night.
ALTAMONT VS. DIETERICH
Altamont Varsity Volleyball were able to defeat Dieterich in three games. Altamont won game one by a score of 25-12. Dieterich won game two by a score of 26-24. Altamont won the third and final game by a score of 25-19. Altamont JV Volleyball was able to beat Dieterich in two sets. Altamont won game one by a score of 25-15. Altamont won game two by a score of 25-13.
TENNIS
EFFINGHAM VS. CASEY
Casey was able to sweep Effingham 9-0 in their match on Thursday. Casey won all 9 games with only one single match going to a third set.
TEUTOPOLIS VS. CHARLESTON
Teutopolis was able to sweep Charleston 9-0. Teutopolis won every game in straight sets. Teutopolis is now 10-1 on the season.
GOLF
ALTAMONT GOLF
Okaw Valley was able to defeat Altamont in a match on Thursday. Altamont shot a 220 as a team and were led by Miller who shot a 54. Okaw Valley won the match shooting a 181 and were led by Coleman who shot a 40.
ST. ANTHONY GOLF
St. Anthony won an invitation on Thursday. St. Anthony won with a score of 175. Second was Effingham with 180 followed by Alton Marquette with a 180, Mattoon with a 199, Teutopolis with a 208, and Sandoval with a 247.
BASEBALL
ST. ANTHONY VS. WEBBER
St. Anthony were able to defeat Webber 3-2 in 8 innings. St. Anthony got two big RBI’s from Levitt. Koester got the win pitching 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 3.
CROSS COUNTRY
ROBINSON INVITATIONAL
The Robinson Invitational took place on Thursday. In the girls meet it was Tolono Unity finishing first with 38 points. Second place went to Mattoon, followed by St. Anthony, Olney, and Teutopolis. Effingham finished 7th, Neoga finished 8th, Cumberland finished 11th, Cowden-Herrick finished 12th, Newton finished 14th, and Altamont finished 15th. Casey, Charleston, Dieterich, Marshall, and Sullivan didn’t have enough runners. The fastest at the meet was Jordan Harmon from Tolono Unity who ran at 18:27.83. Second place was Cameron Hough of Olney, followed by Sarah Carr from St. Anthony, Alexis Monnet from Effingham, and Nicole Bagwell of Tolono Unity. In the boys meet it was Robinson getting the win with 76 points. Second place was Lawrenceville, followed by Mattoon, Olney, and Marshall. Teutopolis finished 7th, Cumberland finished 8th, Charleston finished 9th, Casey finished 10th, Effingham finished 11th, Newton finished 15th, Cowden-Herrick finished 16th, Altamont finished 18th, Neoga finished 19th, Dieterich finished 20th, and St. Anthony finished 21st. The fastest at the meet was Jack Holden from Lawrenceville who ran a 15:37.90. Second was Kort McClellan from Cumberland followed by Micheael Demeyer of Olney, Grady Wilkinson from Mt. Carmel, and Cameron Woodard from Tolono Unity. In the Junior High boys meet it was St. Anthony getting the win with 50 points. Second was Olney followed by South Knox, Teutopolis, and Mattoon. Robinson was 7th, Charleston was 8th, Jasper County was 10th, Cumberland was 11th, Altamont Lutheran was 12th, CHBC was 13th, and Casey was 14th. In the girls meet it was Charleston getting the win with 77 points. Second place was Mattoon followed by CHBC, Olney, and Casey. Cumberland was 7th, St. Anthony was 8th, Altamont Lutheran was 10th, and Jasper County was 11th.
