(Champaign, IL) — Police in Champaign are actively seeking an 18-year-old Champaign man suspected of being the gunman who killed a Mundelein man Saturday night near the University of Illinois campus. Police have issued an arrest warrant for Robbie Patton, charging him with murder in the death of 22-year-old George Korchev. Police say Korchev was a bystander to a violent dispute that spilled out of an apartment building and into a nearby parking lot in the area known as Campustown. Police say Patton was convicted of a gun crime in April and sentenced to eight years, but served time in boot camp instead and had been back on the street just two weeks before this shooting.
If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Robbie Patton should contact the Champaign Police Department at 217-351-4545 or Champaign County Crimestoppers at 217-373-8477.
