58-year-old Effingham Resident Gregory Yocum was sentenced to five years with the Illinois Department of Corrections Thursday in Effingham County Court. The sentencing wraps a series of trials related to an Aggravated DUI Charge that alleged that Yocum stuck and killed 41-year-old Effingham resident, Edward Blumber on Route 45 in Edgewood. The charge is a Class 2 Felony.
Yocum has been sentenced for three DUIs prior to this most recent one which occurred in December of 2014. The court recommended the IDOC facility in Taylorville for Yocum to serve his sentence in addition to participating in substance abuse programs.
The court also ordered that all restitution would be paid to Blumber’s parents first, who appeared in court Thursday to read victim statements.
