(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says business owners across the country are telling him that his reform agenda would make it easier for them to expand into Illinois. Rauner spent time in St. Louis Monday at a conference with Japanese business leaders. He first praised Illinois as the best place to locate or expand a business, then he said companies tell him they won’t come unless he can win reforms. He said business leaders tell him the state needs to reform its workers comp system, its labor regulations and its property taxes, all of which, Rauner said, are among the worst in the nation. Rauner also says the businesses are also demanding political reforms like term limits and fair political maps. Rauner says he’s hoping to address those issues after the election.
