The Effingham County Clerk’s Office is seeking election judges. According County Clerk Kerry Hertzel, applicants must be at least 18-years-old, registered with a major party, and have basic reading/writing and math skills.
The commitment for election judges consists of at least one day of training plus election days. Hertzel says that because election days are long, judges are paid for their time by the county.
The county needs as many judges as possible Hertzel said, as not everyone can make it to each election day to work. Having enough judges is especially important for federal elections.
