Governor Bruce Rauner honored the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Rauner issued a proclamation that Sunday, September 11, 2016 is Patriot Day in Illinois and all entities under the Illinois Flag Display Act are ordered to fly the United States Flag and Illinois Flag at half-staff in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.
Governor Rauner said, “We will never forget the nearly 3,000 men and women who lost their lives in the heinous attacks that shook our nation fifteen years ago today. Today and everyday we honor their memory. We remember their lives, their sacrifices and their courage. The tragedy of 9/11 will live on in the hearts of all Americans, as will the selfless action of our first responders and military personnel who rushed to help victims and defend our freedoms. We will never forget.”
