The Effingham Park District Board will meet this Wednesday to discuss a resolution to participate in the new Effingham Enterprise Zone. Enterprise Zones are designated areas that allow businesses tax incentives locate in, or expand in the zone.
As part of the application process, the City of Effingham has to contact all local government taxing bodies to see if they will participate in the zone. The more taxing bodies that vote to partake, the better the tax incentives in the zone. The current enterprise zone in the area is set to expire in 2018. The new zone expands on the boundaries of the current one to include Teutopolis and other areas in Effingham County. The application is due at the end of 2016, and the state only will designate a limited number of zones.
Also on the agenda are reports on the Workman Sports Complex, Fall Program Attendance, the Harmony Playground, a Halloween Event, a Dog Park, and fall maintenance projects.
