(Springfield, IL) — Notices are being mailed out to nearly 700 voters following news that Illinois’ voter registration system database was recently hacked. Officials with the Illinois State Board of Elections said yesterday that’s how many voter records were viewed in the cyber attack. The state board adds another 86-thousand records are “strongly suspected to have been viewed,” and that more notifications might be forthcoming. The state says information that could have been obtained includes voter names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, driver’s license numbers, and the last four digits of social security numbers.
