Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s swimming coach Jacqueline Michalski has released the Panthers 2016-17 schedule which will begin with a meet on the road at IUPUI on Oct. 21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
After a brief stint on the road, the Panthers will return to Charleston for two-straight home meets at Padovan Pool. The Panthers will host Valparaiso in their 2016 home opener on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. Evansville will pay a visit to Padovan Pool on Nov. 11.
Eastern Illinois will once again compete in the annual Hall of Champions meet at IUPUI. The three-day event is set for Nov. 18-20.
The final home meet of the season for Eastern Illinois will take place on Dec. 3. EIU will host Saint Louis, Maryville University, and Wabash College in a quadrangular meet.
The Panthers will take to the road in three final meets before the end-of-the-year Summit League Championships. Eastern Illinois will travel to Saint Louis on Jan 12 in their first meet of 2017. The following weekend, the Panthers will make the short trip to Terre Haute, Indiana, where the women will face both Indiana State and Ball State, while the men will go head-to-head against Ball State. The final regular season meet will be on Jan. 28 at Valparaiso.
The end-of-season Summit League Championships are scheduled for Feb. 15-18, which will once again be held on the campus of IUPUI.
The women return 12 members from last season’s team, while the men will have 15 swimmers returning. The Panthers will look to use that experience to their advantage this season, but add a mixture of new faces to build on their success. Seven new members were added to the women’s roster this offseason, with the men adding one new swimmer to the team.
