At Monday’s meeting, the Legislative Committee of the whole voted to appoint two people to the Board of Health. In a unanimous vote, Dr. Ted Fifer and Linda Workman were appointed to the Board, as well as, Larry Doty was appointed to the Tri-County Fire Protection District Board of Trustees. Dr. Fifer and Linda Workman’s duties will begin on September 1st until June 30, 2018. Larry Doty’s term began on May 1st of this year and will end in May 2019.
Also, a new line was added to the Fireworks Ordinance. We spoke to committee member, David Campbell on what this line would mean for the ordinance.
The committee, also, voted on establishing an enterprise zone in the City of Effingham and the Village of Teutopolis. The zone will allow new businesses to the area extra incentives for building in the zone.
They had tried to get an enterprise zone established in the past, but had been denied the zone due to a technicality.
