The Reds took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth on a Barnhart solo home run to make it 2-1. The Cardinals tied the game back up in the sixth on a Peralta RBI double. The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead on a Gyorko solo home run in the top of the seventh. The Reds retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh on a Duvall two run home run to make it 4-3. The Cardinals took the lead back in the eighth on two solo home runs from Moss and Pham to make it 5-4. The Reds got the win on a three run home run by Schebler in the bottom of the ninth.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. Reds starting pitcher Straily gave up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1 over 6 innings. Díaz got the win in relief. Cardinals starting pitcher Wainwright gave up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 2 over 5 innings. Oh took the loss in relief.
