The Cubs got six scoreless innings from Jason Hammel to beat the Marlins 3-2.
The Cubs scored in the first on an RBI single from Contreras. The Cubs added another run in the third on a Rizzo sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. The Cubs added one more run in the fifth on a Fowler RBI single to make it 3-0. The Marlins came back with two RBI singles by Hechavarría and Realmuto in the the seventh to make it 3-2.
Hammel got the win improving to 11-5 on the season. Hammel gave up 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2 over 6 innings. Chapman got his second save as a Cub. Fernández took the loss falling to 12-6 on the year. Fernández gave up 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 8 and walking 2 over 6 innings.
