The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the eighth but a pinch hit triple in the bottom of the ninth gave the Marlins a 5-4 win.
The Marlins got on the board first with a two run double by Ozuna and a RBI single by Realmuto in the first to take a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals got on the board in the second when Molina scored on an error to make it 3-1. The Cardinals added another run in the third with a Garcia solo home run to make it 3-2. The Marlins got another run on a Realmuto RBI single in the fourth to make it 4-2. The Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the eighth on a Piscotty double to tie the game at 4. The Marlins got the win with a Dietrich walk off triple with two outs to get the 5-4 win.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. Marlins starter Cashner gave up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2 over 6 innings in his Marlins debut. Ramos got the win in relief. Cardinals starting pitcher MartÃnez gave up 4 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4 and walking 4 over 7 innings.
