The Cardinals got on the board first in the second inning when Molina scored on a throwing error. The Cardinals added two more runs in the third on a Gyorko two run home run making it 3-0. The Mets came back and scored two runs in fourth on a Rivera two run home run to make it 3-2.
Martínez got the win improving to 10-6 on the year. Martínez gave up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 3 and walking 4 over 5 innings. Syndergaard took the loss falling to 9-5 on the season. Syndergaard gave up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8 and walking 3.
Game 2
The Cardinals couldn’t muster enough offense to get past the Mets falling 3-1.
The Cardinals got their only run in the second on a Gyorko home run. The Mets got on the board in the third with a Cabrera RBI double. The Mets then added a run in the fourth and a run in the fifth on a Cabrera sacrifice fly.
Colón got the win improving to 9-5 on the season. Colón gave up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8 over 7 innings. García took the loss falling to 7-7 on the year. García gave up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 over 5 innings.
