Cumberland High School has a new girls basketball coach, Sammi James. James, who is a Neoga alumni will not only be coaching the girls team but will also be finishing her two final college classes at Eastern Illinois.
James graduated from Neoga in 2012 and will be assisted by Emma Baker, who also graduated from Neoga.
James desire to coach comes from her past as she played basketball at Neoga. Her father, Seth James, was previously a Neoga girls head coach and is currently an assistant.
James will try to turn the Pirates around as they went 1-22 in 2014-15 and went 3-25 last season.
