The USDA Illinois Farm Service Agency is reminding Illinois producers of the August 1st deadline to enroll in the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2016 crop year.
The Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs provide financial protection for Ag. producers when crop prices and revenues suffer significant drops. More than 1.76 million farmers and ranchers are expected to sing up for Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage.
The USDA Illinois Farm Service Agency State Executive Director, Scherrie V. Giamanco, stated, “Producers have already elected ARC or PLC, but they must enroll for the 2016 crop year by signing a contract before the Aug. 1 deadline to receive program benefits. Producers are encouraged to contact their local FSA office to schedule an appointment to enroll.”
Commodities covered under these programs include barley, canola, large and small chickpeas, corn, crambe, flaxseed, grain sorghum, lentils, mustard seed, oats, peanuts, dry peas, rapeseed, long grain rice, medium grain rice, safflower seed, sesame, soybeans, sunflower seed and wheat.
