The Teutopolis Board of Education met in special session on Friday to discuss filling the position of Athletic Director. After a brief closed session, the board voted to unanimously to hire 53-year-old, Effingham Resident Mike Wilson for the part-time position. Wilson is a life-long resident of the area and has coached both Teutopolis High School and St. Anthony High School athletics, including basketball, baseball, and track. Teutopolis Superintendent Bill Fritcher said that Wilson will bring experience to the position.
Wilson currently works in financial services. He said that he hopes to continue to the move Teutopolis Athletics in a positive direction.
The board also voted to hire Nicole Lustig as an assistant Junior High Softball Assistant Coach. Lustig is a teacher for the district.
“We like it when our teachers are willing to sponsor the extracurriculars and get involved with our kids, so we’re looking forward to having her join the softball program” Fritcher said.
Lustig and Wilson will begin their new responsibilities in the fall.
