One was injured early Friday morning when a semi-truck hydroplaned off I-57.
51-year-old Tamara L. Stees, of Aurora, Illinois, was travelling northbound on I-57, near milepost 158 in Effingham County, when she attempted to merge to the right lane. Stees’ truck hydroplaned and she lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve off the roadway on the left side. The truck slide down an embankment and came to rest in a ravine about 40 yards off the highway.
Stees was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham for treatment. She is charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
