Effingham Unit 40 has announced the following school registration information for the upcoming 2016-17 school year.
Registration for all Unit 40 students will be in the Effingham High School Cafetorium.
All Unit 40 students entering Early Childhood Special Education through 8th grade will register during specific family registration times. Registration will be Wednesday, August 3rd from Noon to 6:00 PM if your last name begins with the letter A through the letter K. Registration will be Thursday, August 4th from Noon to 6:00 PM if your last name begins with the letter L through Z.
All students entering grades 9 through 12 will register at specific times. Registration for Seniors will be Tuesday, August 9th from Noon to 2:00 PM. Registration for Juniors will be Tuesday, August 9th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Registration for Sophomores will be Tuesday, August 9th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. On Wednesday, August 10th from Noon to 6:00 PM will be registration for all freshmen, new high schools students, and high school multiple-student families. Also that will be registration for anyone attending high school who didn’t register on Tuesday. Freshmen will need a physical for their registration.
Parking will be assigned for students on Friday, August 12th. Seniors will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, Juniors from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and Sophomores from 11:00 AM to Noon.
The following list is a list of fees from Unit 40. Fees may be paid using a debit or credit card.

All students who are entering Early Childhood Special Education for the first time, kindergarten, sixth, and ninth grades will need physical exams before registration. This also applies to students who are transferring from out of State and attending an Illinois school for the first time. Appointment cards will not be accepted for physical exams. Sixth and Ninth grade students may not use athletic physical examinations to fulfill the sixth and ninth grade physical requirements.
Students Immunizations must be up to date. Below is a list of which grades need which shots.
Pre-K-up to date including HIB (haemophilus influenza B) & Hepatitis B and Pneumococcal Vaccine
Kindergarten-Dtap, Polio, MMR, and two Varicella vaccines
Grade 6-Up to date including Tdap, Varicella meningitis
Grade 9-Proof of two Varicella vaccines, 1 Tdap
Grade 12-Meningitis vaccine after age 16
ECSE or Kindergarten students must have a lead assessment when they first enter school.
All Kindergarten students and any student attending an Illinois school for the first time must have a vision exam by October 15th.
All students entering Kindergarten, 2nd, and 6th grade must have a dental exam by April 15th.
Students in grades 9 through 12 should be present at registration to have their student ID and yearbook photos taken. ECSE-8th grade student pictures will be taken at their buildings at a later date. Students must follow the school handbook dress code for this picture.
Parents of Kindergarten and new ECSE students should bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate for their child’s records.
Children who are entering Kindergarten for the upcoming school year must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2016. Parents of incoming ECSE students received a letter in June inviting their children to attend.
The school uses a debit system to administer student lunch. Parents are asked to maintain a balance in their child’s account that will cover all food and beverage purchases. Prepayment for meals can be made at registration.
Parents are to give one phone number where they can be contacted for school emergencies or cancellations.
FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS:
Thursday, August 18th will be the first day of attendance for ECSE- 12th grade students. Students will be dismissed at 2:00 PM. Lunch will be served and buses will transport students, with the exception of the Early Learning Center studens & Central ECSE students, who should be brought by parents/guardians to and from school.
Friday, August 19th students will attend school until 2:00 PM. Lunch will be served to students. Early Learning Center will have regular busing transportation. The ECSE students will follow their AM/PM schedules.
Monday, August 22nd students will attend school for the full day.
