The Cubs offense couldn’t do anything against Cole Hamels and fell 4-1 to the Rangers.
The Rangers scored first with an RBI single by Andrus and a sacrifice fly by Chirinos in the top of the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Cubs scored in the bottom of the third with a Báez RBI double to make it 2-1. The Rangers scored another run in the fourth on a Chirinos RBI double. The Rangers also got another run on a Desmond solo home run in the top of the eighth to make it 4-1.
Cole Hamels got the win improving to 10-2 on the season. Hamels gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7 over 8 innings. Lackey took the loss falling to 7-6 on the year. Lackey gave up 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 8 and walking 2 over 8 innings.
The Cubs start a three game series with the Mets tonight at 6 PM.
