Two residents are in custody at the Fayette County Jail following a raid Saturday morning in Hagarstown. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says they became aware that a wanted individual was living in the home in Hagarstown and the Sheriff’s Department and the ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System) SWAT Team went to the home Saturday morning at 6 am.
Sheriff Smith said there was a standoff for about one hour or so before tear gas was used to attempt to force the individuals from the home. The two individuals exited the residence as a result and were arrested.
The first individual, 41 year old Shane T. Hans, is facing pending charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Vicious Dog that has not been Neutered by a Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting a Peace Office and outstanding warrants from both Fayette and Effingham Counties. The second individual, 33 year old Kayleigh Jo Hughes was arrested on pending charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting a Peace Office and Concealing or Aiding a Fugitive. Both individuals remain in the Fayette County Jail.
