The Effingham County Relay for Life was held Friday night into early Saturday morning at Teutopolis High School. Effinghing Radio News spoke to one of the event organizers Ron Mietzner about the overnight event.
Around 700-800 people attended Friday’s event.
Prior to the the relay, local teams raise funds to support cancer research. On the the eve of the relay, participants walk around a track to symbolize the ongoing struggle against the disease.
Effingham County Relay for Life has been going on for 15 years. This year’s event raised over $123,000 and had 52 teams.
