The Effingham Park District Board approved their fiscal 2017 budget after a special hearing on Wednesday. According to Park District President Jeff Althoff, the budget is based on numbers from previous years. He said that the district tries to keep expenditures below expected revenues. Although it is early in the fiscal for the Park District, Althoff says that things are going well.
The Workman Sports Complex is still an uncertainty on the District’s budget. Althoff said that is largely because the project is still in-progress, but membership numbers are looking positive.
The District also approved to pay $200,000, just under half of a bill owed, to Poettker Construction for various jobs at the Sports Complex. The total bill is $423,240.30. The board elected to only pay half until an issue where the incorrect paint color was used on the ceiling above one of the pools was resolved.
Althoff also reported to the Board that the staff was making progress with landscaping around the Workman Sports Complex and and that summer programs are going well.
