The Cubs had the lead but couldn’t hold on and ended up losing to the Reds 5-3.
The Reds scored first with a Cozart home run in the first inning. The Cubs came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the second on a Russell RBI double and a Montero RBI single to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead. The Cubs added another run in the fifth with a Zobrist solo home run to take a 3-1 lead. The Reds however took the lead in the seventh with a Barnhart 3 run home run to give the Reds a 4-3 lead. The Reds added another run in the eighth on a wild pitch giving the Reds a 5-3 lead.
DeSclafani got the win for the Reds moving to 3-0 on the season. Desclafani gave up 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 6 over 6 innings. Cubs starter Adam Warren made his first start of the season and got a no decision. Warren gave up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 6 over 5 innings. Cahill took the loss in relief.
The Cubs will play the Braves tonight in a make up game. The game starts at 7:05.
