The Cardinals got on the board first with a Gyorko RBI single in the second. The Cardinals made it 2-0 in the third with a Holliday RBI single. The Pirates came back to tie the game at 2 with RBI’s by Harrison and former Cardinal Eric Fryer. The Pirates took the lead in the sixth with a Freese RBI single. Fryer added 2 more runs in the sixth with an RBI double to make it 5-2.
Nacsio got the win in relief for the Pirates. Pirates starter Brault gave up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 5 and walking 2 over 4 innings. Leake took the loss falling to 5-7 on the year. Leake gave up 5 runs on 9 hits while striking out 3 over 6 innings.
