As real estate tax due dates loom in August and October, Effingham County Treasurer Steven Dasenbrock said that rates will likely see an increase this year.
The rate increase is partially due to fear over a potential statewide property tax freeze.
The two real estate tax payments will be due on Friday, August 5, 2016 and Friday, October 7, 2016. The 7.01 percent increase will appear on those bills. The County expects to have real estate tax bills out to the public by July.
The total amount of taxes for 2015 payable 2016 is $48,151,626.14.
