The Rangers took a one run lead after a Mazara solo home run in the sixth. The Cardinals tied the game up at 3 with a Holliday solo home run in the sixth. The Cardinals took the lead with a bases loaded walk to Fryer in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. The Rangers came back with a two run single in the top of the eighth to take the 5-4 lead.
Cardinals starter Mike Leake pitched well. Leake gave up 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 5 over 6 innings. Leake got the no decision. Rangers starter Perez also got a no decision. Perez gave up 4 runs on 8 hits while walking 3 over 5 and 1/3 innings.
