The Cardinals got on the board first with a Matt Adams solo home run in the bottom of the second. Springer had an RBI for the Astros in the third to make it 1-1. Rasmus had a solo home run in the fifth and González had an RBI double to make it 3-1 after 5 innings. Moss added a solo home run in the sixth to make it 3-2. Astros pitcher Doug Fister had a 2 run single in the seventh to make it 5-2.
Jaime García took the loss dropping to 4-6 on the season. García gave up 4 runs on 8 hits while striking out 2 over 6 and 1/3 innings. Fister got the win moving to 7-3 on the season. Fister gave up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 1 over 7 and 1/3 innings.
