Five were transported to Clay County Hospital after a two vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon on U.S. Route 50 at the Clay City Blacktop.
A vehicle driven by 68-year-old Phillip H. Hartke, of Teutopolis, was traveling north on the Clay City Blacktop when he stopped at U.S. Route 50. Hartke proceeded though the intersection and was struck on the side by a westbound vehicle driven by 43-year-old Steven W. Pride, of Flora, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and come to rest in a ditch on the north side of the road.
Hartke and Pride, along with 37-year-old Stephanie W. Pride and two minors who were traveling in Pride’s vehicle, were transported to Clay County Hospital.
Hartke is Charged with disobeying a traffic control device.
