One was killed in a crash on Tuesday evening at 5:45 on I-70 near mile marker 125 in Cumberland County. David Essary, of Indianapolis, was traveling eastbound on I-70 when witnesses stated that he was driving erratically and passing vehicles on the right shoulder. Essary’s vehicle left the roadway on the right side and rolled multiple times down the embankment and came to rest upright.
A passenger in Essary’s vehicle, 27-year-old Dustin J. Garner of Salem, was killed in the crash. Essary was transported to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
He is charged with DUI Alcohol, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Insurance, Driving on a Suspended Licence, Failure to Reduce Speed, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, Improper Lane Usage, and Driving on the Shoulder.
