Effingham Senior Legion Post 120 got off to a hot start going 4-0 over the weekend. Results from each game is posted below.
May 3, 2016
Game 1
Effingham used a passed ball to take the lead in the sixth and held on to win 3-1. Starting pitcher Brandon Puckett pitched four innings giving up three hits. Effingham took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Shelby County came back with a run in the fourth to tie the game at 1. Effingham scored 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 3-1 win. Lane Koenig got the win going three innings striking out 4. Martz took the loss giving up 4 hits and 3 runs over 6 innings while striking out 6.
Game 2
Shelby County tried to come back but it was too little too late as Effingham won 4-2.
Effingham took the lead early scoring one run in the bottom of the second. Effingham added two runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead. Shelby County came back and scored two runs in the top of the seventh but that was it.
Colby Utz got the win. Utz pitched 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2.

Game 1
Effingham got a big game from Woltman who went 2-2 in the win over Robinson 3-0.
Effingham scored a run in the bottom of the first on a Drew Gibson RBI single. Effingham added two more runs in the third with a RBI by Drew Gibson and a RBI double by Bryar Jansen.
Kyle Bourgeois got the win pitching 7 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 strike outs. Tyler Woods took the loss, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings and striking out 2.
Game 2
Effingham got a big offensive game from Nick Miller who went 2-4 as Effingham improved to 4-0 with a 9-4 win over Robinson.
Robinson scored first with 2 runs in the first inning. Effingham came back with 4 runs in the third, 3 runs in the fourth, and 2 runs in the sixth. Robinson added 2 runs in the seventh but that was it.
Ethan Greene got the win going 4 and 2/3 innings striking out 5, walking 3, and giving up 2 runs over 5 hits. Brayden Burtch took the loss going 6 innings striking out 5, walking 2, and giving up 9 runs over 9 hits.
